Question about a blue tongue lizard … I had a shock this morning. when I looked down our hallway I noticed a

large blue tongue struggling its way down our wooden floor … I let out a little scream, Im emarrased to say. When he reached my daughters bedroom, which is carpetted, he sprinted. I spent 2 hours looking for the little bugger. I eventually gave up, put a saucer of water in the middle of the room, and shut the door. Later on, I went back in, slightly terrified ( dont know what the hell I thought would happen!) and the poor thing had obviously found the water, and had a bath or something, and was now CLIMBING THE LACE CURTAINS! I decided this might be my best chance to catch it, so I ran and got the clothes basket (with my 1 year old girl wanting desperatly to give lizard a cuddle) put it underneath the hissing beast, tapped him a tiny bit and he went in the clothes basket. So, now Ive set it up with a hollow bit of wood, a plate of water, and I bit of grated carrot and apple. Isnt it odd he came in for starters?

At the native arc here in WA we feed them a bit of beef mince an egg (with the shell just crack it and leave the shell and all) and some chopped strawberry…but this is for sick lizards.
While it isn’t unusual for them to come into peoples houses /back yards it isn’t the best idea as alot get killed by dogs in peoples back yards etc. I usually check them for ticks and any visible injuries then drive them back to the bush where they belong. If you can’t do this call your local wildlife rescue center and they will come and pick it up…these are not pets and belong in their natural environment where they can live stress free.
