why not buy dogs from pet stores?
those dogs need homes too, and if they don’t get adopted they are just going to end up in a shelter, that is where all unadopted dogs end up. and some pet stores get dogs from pet stores? those dogs need some llove too, and it isn’t their fault they were put in a pet store!

im not against shelters AT ALL. i wouldd rather adopt. i was just wondering why it was so bad to buy.
There’s a difference between pet stores and ADOPTIONS at pet stores.
Pet stores get their puppies from these disgusting puppy mills. The dogs are crammed in small, wire cages, forced to live in their own waste, and get little human contact. The females are only there to churn out litter after litter. The puppies are ripped away from mom and litter mates too young. They’re often very sickly. People buying dogs from pet stores keeps this gross cycle going. Puppy millers care about nothing more than making money.
At stores like PetSmart, they have dogs there that are up for adoption. You do not get those dogs from the store. You have to contact the shelter and get the dog through them. That is different from a pet store where they sell their puppies.
I agree, all dogs deserve a good home, but I’m not willing to save that one little puppy in the window and have another quickly replace it. Once you buy that puppy, another puppy comes along and takes its place. The cycle continues, and you’ve supported a repulsive business. No good breeder would EVER even consider for a second to put their puppies in a pet store.
You’re right. It isn’t their fault they’ve been put in a pet store. That is why it’s up to dog lovers everywhere to stop buying from pet stores and stop supporting puppy mills. No business=no money. No money=puppy mill shut down. You can’t save them all, and it’s a hard fact to realize.
I know how tempting it is to get that cute little puppy with those big, sad eyes, but think about the other hundreds upon hundreds being produced that will only follow. They’re sickly. They’re not well cared for.
You love dogs, as do I and everyone on here. The very best we can do to stop puppy mills is to not support them. Please understand that you can’t expect to save that one puppy and make a difference. All you’ll be doing is supporting puppy millers.
Now, ask yourself. Are you willing to get a puppy from the pet store and help keep the disgusting cycle going, or are you more willing to fight the tears, walk away, and know that you did the right thing by not supporting the puppy mill?
